Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

https://www.fragomen.com/

They worked on my GC when I was on E-3. Never mentioned the H-1B route. Overall, pretty satisfied with their lawyers and staff.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

If you are a sole proprietor, you don't need to worry about sales tax. I suggest you get yourself an accountant, it will be worth it in the long run.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Are you sure you understand what "dual intent" is? It is not about your ties to your home country.

Yes, you can buy real property on the E-3 visa. I am pretty sure you can buy it on a tourist visa...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Here is my experiencing getting a new E-3 in Mexico City. I already had the E-3 but was getting a new one for the new job.

The reason I went there was because no appointments were available in...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Hi all,

My plan is to go renew the E-3 myself while leaving my family here in the US. Once I get it, we will apply for status extension for all of them so that they do not to make an extra trip....

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Thanks Sevusal, I guess the demand is picking up closer to the summer. Will go to Mexico then, plenty of availability there.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Hi guys,

Did anyone check E-3 appointments in Canada recently for non-residents? I was going to go there for renewal but don't see any available appointments at all :( I read they released them...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

You should check two things, one whether they process E-3s at all as not all consulates do. Secondly, check that the area is safe as I believe the border would not be the a family-friendly place. I...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

This is good news as I assume the line in Mexico City is not as long as in Canada. I will consider going there next time I renew.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

I reckon you should be fine with a one-way ticket. I don't think immigration is that interested in what tickets you've got. Also, you are allowed to look for work while on VWP so don't lie if you are...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

You could go to Mexico or elsewhere, or check the website for cancellations, they do happen.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

On American, you can buy a slightly more expensive ticket (Choice Essential) that is changeable to a different date. You will have to pay the difference in price but it is still not a bad deal. Other...

I did, and I think E-3 was on the list. What consulate did you select?

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Do you always believe what you read in the papers? A piece of advice for you: it can be highly overblown. I am in Toronto right now and everything looks business as usual. Guess what, my hotel is...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Had my E-3 renewal interview scheduled for tomorrow in Toronto, and half way on my roadtrip from Chicago got an email:

They rescheduled our appointment to January 17. What a great Christmas...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

It's different in the US, Amex is accepted almost everywhere and the transaction fee is already included in the price.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Like others said, transferring Australian Amex to the US can be a huge boost for your credit history, not only because you'll have a local credit card with a decent limit, but also because Amex will...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

I think the majority don't pay this tax. Probably because not many know about it and IRS has not really been cracking down on this. But it all may soon change given all the new FBAR regulations, form...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Yes, but not everything is covered by the treaty. For example, capital gains in superannuation accounts. By US laws they are just like a regular bank account and thus must be included in 1040 and are...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

I suggest you also consider the tax implications of having the GC if you intend to return to Aus. I believe having the GC will require you to lodge tax return in the US no matter where you live....

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

This is certainly not true. I like many other people started working before I had the SSN. What they did is put me on an overseas payroll and paid me from there. The other option I think is for them...
