I did find this answer; You can go to a CIC office in Canada (Toronto, Hamiton, Barrie all have one plus others) to get stamped in or to activate your PR VISA. You can only do it by appt and these...

I am hopefully close to getting my VISA and was wondering if anyone knows if you can 'flagpole' or get your PR VISA approved in Toronto??? The border at Niagara is pretty far for us.

I think some people do and some don't. I only got an email saying that my Sponsorship was approved. Only then could I access the online checking system.

Did ECAS say IN PROCESS before you received the Decision Made? We have 10 days before my OH's work permit expires and are in desperate need of the PR Visa to come through.

My IEC VISA expires in 2 weeks. My PR VISA isn't here either. Did you get a temp work permit? How do I do that? Am I too late? Help!

Why would you not get your second year IEC? We are also applying for our second year IEC VISA while awaiting our PR VISA.

We just sent off the million page VISA Spousal app today! Arghhh....what a tonne of work. Fingers crossed. I'm sure they will have a backlog of apps from the Christmas period.
