I guess my original statement is ambiguous. :)

What I meant is that a British company/corporation (BBC Worldwide) has recently become the major shareholder. Not that the BBC has recently become...

That's probably like saying the US Civil War was about slavery.

I suspect that the real reason is that the majority shareholder has recently become British.
