As far as I can tell, I've never seen a swell good enough to warrant surfing. The beaches don't seem have the ability to regulate the waves so they come in in nice sets. It's normally just a crash of...

Yeah, it must be.

Drove back along the 611 because apparently that bypasses potential Sharjah issues...although other people say Sharjah can't do anything. Don't know who to believe.

Qatar is more expensive than Dubai I believe....here it's average of 30-35 a pint (5-6 quid).

SOme places cheaper, some more. But I know I don't drink Guinness in the Yacht club because...
