Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

CelticSpirit - I am in the UK and not Ireland but my landlord had no issues with allowing me to have my two little dogs here. Also the management company allows residents two dogs no matter the size....

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

I saw an Argos store the other day so the next time I am down that way I will go inside and see what it's all about. ;)

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

You'll get here, Fulwood. I know you will. It took me almost six years to get here from the time I realised I had made up my mind to come back. I was hit by the recession badly and unemployment...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Thanks Editha. I had the broccoli in a cupboard. I will be sure to use it more quickly next time.

Another item is blue cheese. I bought some a week ago and went to use it last night - moldy....

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

I used to have TMobile in the U.S. They have a basic plan that offers a few voluntary options, one of which is international calling. I think one intl option is 10 dollars and allows calls to...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

By the way, the quality of food in the supermarkets here is far superior to the USA. One thing I have found, though, is that because the fridge is too small to put veggies in, I have to keep them...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Thanks so much for the train line tip. I will let my friend know. That's a huge difference in price!

I will look up Hatchards and Waterstones and see if there is one in this area. I really miss a...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Cheers, to answer your question it took me far, far, far longer to adjust to the USA than it has taken me thus far to readjust to the UK.

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Hi Cheers!

I have only been here about ten days and I am still getting used to being in the UK.

I found my apartment through a friend of a friend so skipped the usual six months rent up front...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

It's almost as bad here, Cheers. No shade, very high heat (late 90s), and no air movement. I like the heat, but not this!

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Well, I am still in the USA! In the last few days before intended travel I made the decision to stay here until September which was my original plan. Two more months is not such a long time to wait -...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Will do, Cheers. I leave next Monday morning. It's coming around very quickly!

Love your description of "haggard". ;) I think I feel that way already lol.

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Yes, the beginning of the week. It has come around so fast! I am not even sure I will have time to get any UK currency before I go and may have to resort to banks in the UK to change it for me.

I...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Yes. I fly at the beginning of next week and my dogs go the day after me.

Congratulations to your daughter on having a job in London. I think she will love it. I have had some students of mine go...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Very hot here, too, Cheers. There is little shelter here and the sun beams down so strongly on everything. It's not fun.

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

You and I will have to agree to differ. In my opinion calling someone's posts a "soap opera" is CERTAINLY rude, at least my parents would have thought so and taught me similarly. Maybe not to you,...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Cheers, none of that was directed to you in any way. :) You are probably one of the most helpful and neutral people on this thread. I will add "kind and compassionate" to that list, too.

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

I've been giving this thread a lot of thought, particularly in view of the nasty comments from some posters and the fact that little, if anything, is done about it.

It's very clear to me why this...

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Seems neither BA nor Virgin is approved to drop pets in Edinburgh. Those are supposed to be the two best airlines for pets. Neither is approved for Manchester either - according to the list here:

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up
