Never been to Darjeeling, last went to Kashmir about 20 yrs ago with the children by bus from Jammu in April (they never forgave me that trip we went back by taxi!!!).

Noni that you love Goa, the weather, the beach, absolutely no question about it, but the people----it doesn't always shine through from several expats, unless the Goans keep smiling and behave...

They are other Westerners, also plenty of alcohol, English breakfasts, sunbeds on the beach!!!!

Your post said "Goan people" obviously 'big' money will be in the 'big' cities but Goa in general is not a poor State.

The original poster also asked for somewhere "cheap to live"; the big malls...

Agree about Pune but the poster mentioned a beach.

"Goans are poor by comparison to" ???? those of Bihar, UP, West Bengal for example?
