Really? 435d is only available with an 8-speed auto, and yeah, it'll thump you in the back if you ask it to, or not if you don't. Smooth if you drive it that way, brutal if you don't but I'd never...

Not any more. A menacing rumble at start (not a clatter, it sounds really purposeful) developing into a roar as you wind it up. Put it in Eco-Pro mode and it just purrs.

The only downside so far is that the seat won't go far back enough / the steering wheel far forward enough to have my arms as straight as I like them. And I'm not gangly. Although 'er indoors...
