That's a shame. What about Halifax? Flight from Toronto is only 3 1/2 hours so would you really need a hotel?

To be fair Cuba might be run down but I believe the crime rate is very low... Unlike some of the caribean, they don't tell you to remain on the resort in Cuba for your safety...

The people are lovely but just make sure you chose your resort carefully. Get recommendations...

I'm sure everybody's experience is different. We're all individual and our tolerance levels vary. Even hubby and I had different outlooks on the hotels short comings...

I've been to Greece... Greece has "a few" slums like that. Cuba has "a few" nice places... it's the scale of it in Cuba that's so shocking.

Well when the rep spoke with hubby the second day she actually commented that the hurricane was the best thing that could have happened as it will force them to make repairs... she knows the country...

Pool was lovely... Water was clean and fresh.

I could see the young ones enjoying it. Sleep all day and party all night. One of my boys wants to stay with a family... it's becoming a big thing over there. Not sure that would be for me though.
