If you are married : you may find you have rights to a UK visa under the Human Rights Act - RIGHT TO FAMILY
(Google the H.R.A and check up on the .gov.org...

All the best with the x visa Horse Doctor - I know of 3 people now who have anaged to get a one year x so they are definitely open to this now.

Lee - the people on here who really know their stuff when it comes to what you have to do for registration as a foreigner are AFD and msj5- both are very helpful on these matters,...

And for people in certain occupations eg Armed forces, Police, media, photography - they will only get a 3 month single entry tourist visa

I thought this was the case as well - in fcat on every visa I have had it is actually printed (in very small letters) on the actual visa itself.
I would love to know exactly how this person manges...

How very backward - just shows how women are still second class in India

Having spoken to a number of Kashmir folks, they have to pay quite a lot of 'extra' to get a passport.

This is actually not that uncommon - unfortunately.
It may be that for whatever reason someone at either VFS or the HC has assumed whether correctly or otherwise that your OH works...

I'm aware of several people I know who have managed to get 2 year business visas but not tourist ones.
Hem is yours a T or B visa?

Certainly I have not known of this in a long time, and to me it seemed that visas were getting more stringent each year - probably someone forgot to stamp her passport .......... a fluke methinks
