Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

It's the Super Bowl today. Or, as I like to call it, the "Superbole". A bit like hyperbole but not as awesome.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

I haven't finished. At the moment I believe there are only two franco quebeckers fully versed in the use of the word "bolloc......".

I'll get cracking on him when he starts to speak.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

I corrupted my 13-month old grandson yesterday. His parents weren't looking so I gave him Marmite on toast. He loved it.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Peace at last!

The unruly puppy is at the vet being adjusted and the missus has gone to her first day at school. I can finally hear myself think.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

It was my MIL's 80th birthday last weekend. She's a soccer nut. We took her to the Montreal/New York game. The two lagered-up young guys sitting in front of her apologised in advance that they might...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Anywhere east of Vanier is mainly Franco. Oddly, when you cross into QC, it becomes rather Anglo again. We went into downtown Rigaud for lunch during a trip a few years ago. I heard more English than...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Funny you mention that. I was outside with the got one morning a couple of weeks ago. I sat on a low wall next to a flower bed. When I went to stand up, I simply flopped backwards into the flower...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Not sure.I'm always tired and lethargic, have no strength whatsoever, get dizzy and uncoordinated, and my mood is a bit iffy. My SIL (a nurse) reckoned it could be anemia. I did some research an...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Our bloke just loves everyone. His best friend is our neighbour's 120-pound rottweiler. He wants to be friends with our cat but she's having none of it. I didn't know cats could growl.

We're...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Goldendoodle. Mostly doodle, apart from the ears. Those big floppy ears are handy. Easy for us to bite. And he's not golden. He's white.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

How do dogs grow so fast? Our puppy is only a few months old. He is now 28 pounds and 18 inches at the shoulder. He gained 12 pounds in two weeks!

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

I had a conversation with a highly educated guy in France years ago. I mentioned the names of some battles the English had won against France. He'd never heard of them. He told me the names of some...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

That is not unusual.

You'd think that soldiers machine-gunning people in Quebec City at Easter in 1918 would be in the history books. It ain't. You have to dig bloody hard to find any sort of...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Depends where you are. I've had stuff sent from London by Fedex to Toronto and Vancouver and it got there next day. No chance of that where I live now.

London/Indianapolis/Mirabel/Ottawa. Stuff...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

A lot of people seem to have trouble grasping the concept. They assume that because I'm at home during the day and am scruffy, I'm retired/unemployed/a kept man.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

I was a bit naughty a few years ago.

We got someone in to fix a crack in the foundation. The guy fixed it, cemented over it and propped up a sheet of scrap wood to cover it in case of rain. He...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

I got that a lot when I moved into this neighbourhood. Many of the neighbours thought I was retired (I was 41 FFS!).

It's easier now because quite a few of my neighbours work partly from home.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Whereas WalMart simply rapes its suppliers. Its retail margins/markups are wafer-thin. The profit comes from the time lapse between buying stuff and then flogging it. It receives stuff and sells it...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Yup. It's the same with racks of plants outside Walmart, with nobody watching over them. They look nice. Walmart knows they will be nicked and the loss is built into the model.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

Just stick it on Kijiji.

It says something about retailers that they are so quick to write-off things.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

My missus had a result yesterday. She'd ordered some aluminium backsplash tiles from an outfit in BC. They were expensive (about $600). They arrived by courier yesterday. On opening the box, she...

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

What purpose do they serve? Revenue from advertising sales.

No newspaper or magazine makes money on the cover price. It's all advert sales.

Social media just makes it easier to target people.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread

I use a PC!

I also use a Samsung Galaxy to make phonecalls and send text messages. Does it have other uses? I have no idea what an app is.
