Depends how you measure it. Per Capital GDP (ok, I know its faults) of Bahrain is higher than Saudi, Oman, Portugal and South Korea (to name a few).

As bad as this sounds - the earthquake is probably a positive for the economy of Japan. They will have to undertake a huge infrastructure rebuilding program which is always a good thing - Short term...

I bloody wouldn't. if you want to play the FX game then convert them to Riyals, Dirhams, or USD just in case. The last thing you want is currency export restrictions.
