Amazulu - I wasnt trying to say no foreign retailers will come to Aus, or that they couldnt make money. They will and can. But its just not that attractive a market to the biggies for a few reasons,...

Sure, but how many members can they hope to attract in Aus, and would that be worth the investment in stores, marketing, building supplier relationships etc?

CostCo are indeed very big in the US. The question here is, is it worth their while to try to do anything in Aus? (obviously they're testing the water).

CostCo have quite an interesting business...

TBH, people need to think logically here.

Australia is a country of approx 20M people. It does not have the benefits of being part of something like the EU where there are land borders and so...

Experience so far -

Fresh food (meat, fish, veg, fruit) is of a significantly higher standard generally and same price or cheaper. When I compare what I pay in markets here versus Waitrose back...
