Good for him, and I'm sure he deserved it, but hard work doesn't always mean top marks, and top marks don't always mean hard work, or even intelligence.

I wouldn't go that far, although I did once have a go at a very obnoxious librarian (lady). Mind you, I was borrowing books for myself on my daughter's card but .. with ALL THE MONEY I PAY!!

Exactly. I believe the old 'liceo lingustico' have been taken into this new style liceo, although Latin is often taken out of the syllabus which the traditionalists frown on of course.

I think the Italian curriculum is generally great in theory and does give a much broader education compared to the UK system (many of us have quoted the example of Literature).

You're probably right but for me it was a good excuse to get off work. :o

Mostly rubbish though. We used to divide 'em up between me an OH. Of course I always had to go to the "English" "teacher"...

An English teacher with a laurea in lingue at most will have done 4 exams/courses in English literature covering the whole history from Chaucer...
