Re: So who's on the NBN?

I would imagine that the BBC and ITV will have there own pre and post match team and probably use other match broadcasters for non-England games - at least in the group stage anyway

16th June will...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

All world cup games available for free (well, after you've paid $2 a month for a DNS redirect) on BBC iplayer and ITV Hub. BBC also broadcasting some games in 4K

Re: So who's on the NBN?

That's a big drop but probably better than you could get on Sky Muster. A basic drawback of wireless is that it doesn't have the scalability of fibre
This mob Best Broadband Provider for Wireless...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

I saw on Ozbargain that Aussie Broadband are offering (until midnight) the first month free for NBN. So I signed up for unlimited 100/40 for $104/month including VOIP. Definitely a bit better than...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

I'm a one-box solution guy - hence the HTPCs. I do have an Nvidia Shield on another TV though (and that is an awesome device)

I find casting to be a bit hit and miss at times

The only problem I...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Fast.com is pathetically rubbish. I just ran the test and it tells me that I'm getting 3.2 when every other test tool records 80-90+ - and my line synch speed is 107+

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Sounds good

Can you get BBC iplayer on the Fetch box? Kodi?

This device does look good but iplayer and Kodi would be a deal breaker for me. The beauty of a HTPC (windows or Linux) is the...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Fact:
K Rudd's initial plan was unfunded

It was a popular and populist idea that was not thought through or planned properly - another Rudd thought bubble. Just like his mining tax

Re: So who's on the NBN?

That's nice

The government-run business model of the NBN is its main handbrake though - basically the perfect example of how not to implement major infrastructure

Re: So who's on the NBN?

You 'caught the NBN tech pulling a new fibre down to it via the pits'?

What, are the NBN police now? Did you make a citizen's arrest on behalf of the FTTN folk?

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Personally, apart from the included EPL package, I can't see much advantage of Optus. I guess it is fairly decent value but they get absolutely panned in online reviews. Their latest Fetch box does...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

The business model of the NBN is what you get when you have socialists (K Rudd) planning shit. If the NBN had been left to the industry to implement, it would have been finished by now at half the...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

So, the NBN has been up and running in my street for a few weeks and I recently signed up with Melbourne-based mungi.com.au on their 100/40 unlimited plan:
$80 for 100/40
$5 for VOIP (just to keep...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

Good stuff. Not everyone is arsed with 4k - an HD experience is sufficient in that case

Re: So who's on the NBN?

As has been pointed out many times, the technology of the NBN is okay - not the latest and greatest but acceptable for a country the size of Australia and its low population density (even more so...

Re: So who's on the NBN?

30Mb is perfectly fine for most applications. What do you pay for that? Unlimited?

Unlimited 100Mb NBN is $90 with Mate

Re: So who's on the NBN?

F**king yes! We're due to get the NBN (FTTN) next month. They've been working in our street this week and I came home today to find that the node has been installed virtually right outside our front...
