Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Argentina don't need to beat Germany at all. They're a bunch of girly divers and the Germans will steamroller over them with their better football

And yes, I'm back :D

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Germany all the way. Argentina will put up more of a fight then Brazil did, and Mascherano was outstanding today but the Germans will contain Messi and outclass them, IMO.

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

In fairness, all teams have looked a bit dodgy at the back but Germany is usually rock solid in defense, which is a little strange. Perhaps Lahm should return to left back again, why the hell Loew...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

I had suspected Italy would bottle it, but I had Uruguay and England going through as 1-2 respectively from the group.

**** it, at least the US are playing some good football. Looking forward to...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Maybe you're thinking of El Salvador when you hear Ecuador. That's next to Honduras.

Ecuador is on the equator, of course. You can tell because of the huge dotted line that runs through the...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Honestly I thought there were moments when they looked like a decent unit. It was just ruined by inconsistency and defensive errors.

It's not like four time world champions Italy won't be joining...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Is that a turtle that impedes your ability to clean your windscreen?

Anyway, England didn't qualify in 1994 after their last great World Cup performance in 1990. Then they put in a good show in...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Well that's ****ed that, then.

I hope England still beat Costa Rica to shut them up, and Uruguay beat Italy to teach them a lesson.

Then Germany still go on to win the whole thing anyway.

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

If they have the decency to win this and their next match then I like them again.

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

I get it, I certainly wasn't suggesting you go get cable just to watch it! Keep an eye on NBC for Premier League games though, they will show some throughout the season. That's more than you could...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

That is the thing, the World Cup is on ESPN (though they do, as mentioned, show some matches on ABC). That being said though, soccer is most definitely growing in popularity here. I've watched it...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Certainly not the Dutch anyway, they should easily dispatch this Brazil side, provided there aren't any more non-penalties called.

Anyone have Brendan Rodgers' number? Think I need to give him a bell ...

No offense to Minge, of course

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

It is weird. The lack of availability of pork pies is a factor, of course.

God, it's getting bad, isn't it?

Mexico played a blinder, though. Ochoa had a hell of a game.

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

I don't know what the viewing figures were to be honest but it does appear to be highly regional within the US.

There was a huge group watching the match on a big screen TV in Chicago. Also,...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

The US gives a toss about football. Maybe not in Idaho, sadly, but down my way it's massive.

The more good results the US team can achieve in the World Cup, the better it will be in the long run...

Re: World Cup - Warning, Spoilers may be here!

Finally got a chance to watch the games I taped. Germany look as strong as usual and the US are in a good spot.

Portugal sucked ass though. Nani was hilariously bad when he tackled his own...
