Re: Price of gas update...

$1.63 today, so sort of in the middle price wise. What was of interest today was that if I didn't have to drive to Chicago today for work, I would have made it to 3 weeks since my last fill up...

Re: Price of gas update...

It's hovering around the low $1.70s round my way right now. I did just realize this morning that I haven't filled up since Easter Sunday. This is by far the longest I've gone between fillups -...

Re: Price of gas update...

A great thing about the metric system is a litre is a litre wherever in the universe you might be filling up :sneaky:

Re: Price of gas update...

Other than the fact that I am just cheap anyway, that's why I'm using it, because my car doesn't need (or won't benefit from) 89 or 91.

Re: Price of gas update...

I'm still using the cheapest either way.

Bloody Americans just have to be difficult though, eh?

Re: Price of gas update...

All more fun than my little 4-cylinder but I wasn't buying for performance, rather that what I could afford that was still big enough to fit a PA and assorted gear in the back of. Not that that's...

Re: Price of gas update...

Yeah, even our highest octane rating here is lower than the UK I think. Our options are 87, 91 and 93 whereas your unleaded is 95 as far as I remember. Anyway, I'm cheap and poor so I use 87. But...

Re: Price of gas update...

Chevrolet Cruze. It's got a rebadged Opel Ecotec engine in it, I think. I know it's a 1.4L

Anyway, I'll peak at 40mpg but the trip average will be closer to 36. It was advertised as having 28...

Re: Price of gas update...

Yeah, if I fill up just before an interstate run I can nudge 40, even if just a comparatively short run into Chicago, which is about 55 miles. But that's a one-off.

Re: Price of gas update...

I'm averaging around 30mpg, so still kind of crap compared to newer cars of the same size as mine. But I have such a short commute it's to be expected.

Re: Price of gas update...

I can get about 400 miles between fill-ups, more if I let the tank go below a quarter full, but I rarely do. If I'm not doing anything other than going to and from work, with an occasional stop at...

Re: Price of gas update...

I usually end up filling up when I'm at about a quarter tank, and normally it's over $30.00, so I was happy with my $15.00. The most I have paid per gallon is about $4.40 or so, and that was years...

Re: Price of gas update...

15 gallons, but I only needed to put in about 12.5 because I wasn't fully empty.

Re: Price of gas update...

That must be up north, but I did manage to fill up in Salem near the IL state line over the weekend and it was $1.23, which is the lowest I have ever seen gas here. $15.00 to fill my tank, can't...

Re: Price of gas update...

Well, whatever it was I was able to get nicely wankered for a few days and it didn't make me go broke, so I'll call that acceptable :D

Re: Price of gas update...

I didn't really pay much attention, there was one pretty near the airport in Grand Prairie, then somewhere out by the Walmart in Peace River.

Re: Price of gas update...

I can get a 12 pack of Modelo for about $12.00 at my local Walmart, but on the other hand I'm not going to not drink in Canada either. That was half of the point of going up there in the first place...

Re: Price of gas update...

How much is a 12 pack of Molson Canadian these days? It was $32.00 give or take last time I was north of the Maple Curtain. American beer was upwards of $50.00

Re: Price of gas update...

There isn't one that I can see but the radar does show rain. Hurricane season has started though, so that is subject to change of course.

Doesn't help me at all, but it's nice they can get some cheaper gas for a while anyway.

Re: Price of gas update...

Apparently the conversion factor is 2.84, if you're interested. So 99.9c/L Canadian is $2.84/gal US as near as makes no odds. That's only 10c more than gas is by me right now, which seems really good...

Re: Price of gas update...

Sounds like fun ...

It seems to be slowly dropping again here. A few stations are still over $3.00 but the one closest to work was $2.95 this morning.
