Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

It certainly does in certain situations happen. I believe far less so than a few decades back and would likely be an additional reason to make angry than the prime one.

More likely those that...

Keep life simple. Lot to be said for doing just that. I'm sure there's a place you belong.

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

There are certain differences perhaps more of a cultural nature and educational emphasis in approaching a problem.

Of course differences go only so far as we are all European but remain all the...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

Mindset is certainly different. Germans appear to have the innate ability to look at an issue and work out in detail the plus and minus's and what will work and what will not.

Afraid chaos and...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

I do have knowledge of the country. (RSA) More from times back but have made a few visits during the past decade or so.

In fact I rather admire the sense of individual freedom still apparent...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

You could always enlighten yourself and discover the stereotypical rants of certain South Africans wouldn't for one second cut the mustard in a country like Germany. I'm afraid not being the most...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

Almost akin to moving states apart from distance. English speaking and similar in so many ways. Hard to consider failure in such circumstances.

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

I'm still wondering why former South Africans are not better regarded in OZ?

The arrogance and superiority label often being cited as a reason, unfairly with exceptions I'd have thought.

You got something to say Heindrich? Or as usual of track on your own record. May I suggest you read the thread title and comment appropriately?

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

Also with age the long haul from all accounts gets increasingly tiresome. Health insurance another issue worth consideration with ageing as well with the cost.

Small towns here charge more than...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

And further back in the days of sail it took three longer than when steam took over. Of course the world was viewed very differently then and even going to France felt very foreign. Same goes for a...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

No free camping near anything as a rule and camping grounds are hardly the cheap places they once were.

Novelty of lack of people does wear a little thin. Although I take your point for those...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

I'm afraid Margaret River is just way to expensive for what is on offer. Same could be said for most of WA.

Having lived in France there is little if any comparison to be made. A country that has...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

Lifestyle is something of an advertising/marketing term at best. Really another term for consumption rather than anything more concrete.

One can of course have a good life anywhere. It is how we...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

And some wonder why over priced OZ is falling out of favour with international tourism. Not only over priced but I find very ordinary service and general value as well.

Two sets of friends of...

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything

I tend to agree. Just a few nights down south in WA inclusive of meals and wine was very close to what paid in a good Rome hotel in recent times.
While a stay in Broome was more.

Re: Australia is too bloody far away....from everything
