Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

Yes, at least not legally. Sometimes the customer can circumvent the rules by supplying an address outside the US, but the problem exists in several domains - so it isn't legal for a British...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

"To" is different from "from". ;)Any business (around the world) can send money to the US, only those registered in the US are allowed to offer services to US residents.

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

Worldfirst doesn't seem to be registered as an MSB with FinCen, nor registered as a remitter in the states that I checked - California, Texas, and North Carolina, so I think it is unlikely that...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

Probably not, and Transferwise offers a "borderless account" not a "bordeless bank account", because Transferwise is not a bank, and it would be unlawful for Transferwise to promote itself as a...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

The only "pitfall" I see is with the "borderless bank", not the FX and remittance service.

The transfer in the US to/from Transferwise (depending on which way the money is going) is an ACH, which...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

Just tell them what you're doing, and as long as the amounts are not $10,000 (or just under, say $7k -$10k), you shouldn't have a problem - note, if you're moving the money to the US, it's the bank...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

It should be possible to arrange a transfer in excess of your bank's daily transfer limit, but you might need to give additional information, perhaps in writing, to establish that you are the account...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

I was reading a few days ago that Tfw already has pools of money in the countries it does business in, and the transfers are really only added to the pool in one country and tapped out of the pool in...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

Right, that is what I always understood about Tfw and most if not all other FX brokers - they move the money around, but don't take ownership of it, not even briefly.

Given that fact, I am not...

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

Er, yeah! ..... Personally it makes me feel less comfortable about using the Transferwise FX broker-remitting service.

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

So the money isn't even held in a client account, as it would be if your money was held by a stockbroker, lawyer, or accountant. :scaredhair:

Re: Transferwise - boarderless bank a/c

Where is the bank? Running my money through Transferwise's computers while my money moves in and out of client accounts at other banks is one thing, but I am not so sure about parking my money in an...
