Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

I don't think so - the cars seem to go 4 times as far too, I believe partly because the engines are relatively larger, and partly because most cars in the US are not used for super-short...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

That was exactly the case for me when I moved over. The price I paid for gas was about one quarter of what I was paying for petrol in the UK a few months earlier, but I was using four times...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

No you don't - at £1.22/litre and $1.30/£1, the most expensive petrol in the Gloucester area is only $6/US gal. Some areas might be a little higher, but not much more.

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

Not too many rounders players play with a giant lightshade type device strapped to their hand, making catching the ball a mere formality.

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

6' 5", and curly hair, yup some significant similarities. :)

He has a few years on me, and is a bit more jowly, but his home town is only about 30 miles from mine (both in south Yorkshire). We...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

Thanks for the update. ..... But you can still get paper maps? The last time I looked for a road atlas was four years ago, and couldn't find anything more recent than copyright 2006.

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

I'd be happy to bottle the water in the kitchen sink after I have finished washing the dishes and send it to him. Personally I doubt anyone could tell the difference!

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

I realised that even before I hit the "post" button. .... But I figured she'd be happier with those two than the third definition I seriously considered adding: "the dentist's mistress".

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

Like a room full of monkeys with typewriters, occasionally you write something intelligible.

I agree with this - decent BBQ restaurants usually have 4-6 sauces to choose from. "Western...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

I'd take sleeping in a truck stop over a state-owned "rest area" every time. (At least) one rest area in NC has been closed to overnight stops due to a long term history of jiggery pokery in the...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

Fair comment. It certainly can be too salty, but so can, say, soup.

It seems a pity that a food/dish gets dismissed as garbage just because sometimes it isn't made properly. That said, if I...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

The distinction I was trying to make, but didn't fully explain is that American "white gravy" is nothing more than a roux sauce, which is the same sort of sauce as used for mac & cheese, cauliflower...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

American "gravy" is actually a roux sauce, which the French consider to be one of the "mother sauces" on which French cuisine is based. It is flavored with sausage meat, pepper, and salt, and for...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

"Getting out more" is a state of mind - specifically "recognizing that there are a lot of things happening that you wouldn't choose to do and/or aren't even aware of". Merely bouncing around the US...

Re: Free Cup of Tea (AND a Sticky Bun???)

Sort of, kind of, but IMO not in a good way. Pretty much anything would be preferable - yeast roll, dinner roll, French roll, bakery roll, wheat roll, :sneaky:etc. And biscuits usually aren't...
