Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

Thanks :D I haven't made them yet (my 2 jars of mincemeat are coming tomorrow), but it'll be nice to offer my neighbours something different and something that hopefully they'll like.

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

Lorna - I want to offer some homemade (sweet) mince pies to my neighbour.

I don't think they have mince pies here so you can translate this for me so I can try and explain what they are to her?

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

The closest word to Farro I know was farina, so if it is wheat or grain I wasn't too far off :)

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

The other night on Affari Tuoi, someone won 1 kg of Farro. I couldn't find any translation apart from 'spelled' which doesn't make any sense. What is Farro - what did she actually win?

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

Our Italiano classes have always been grammar based and at first it was really hard, not to say frustrating because whilst we could change single into plurals, recognise regular and irregular verbs...

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

Thanks Lorna

This is what we thought - that Italians seem to use anticipate more to say 'in advance' or 'to bring forward' rather than to expect something in the future.

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

Hi Lorna

How do you say 'anticipate' in Italian? Colleagues of my husband seem to use this word with a different meaning to the english meaning (if that makes sense) but when he asked them...

Re: TALK THE TALK. ITALIAN LANGUAGE QUESTIONS.

Hi Indiebird

I feel the same way - the more you know, the more complicated it gets. Back in October when I had just moved to Italy I only knew a few phrases, they were enough to get by with and...
