Re: Transferring funds UK - Canada

I transferred a year of pension from the UK to Canada on Thursday via xe.com. I've done this a few times before with them but always on the phone. This time I found it quite stressful but this was...

Re: UK State Pension - delayed payments ?

What I also found interesting is that I reverted to my maiden name last September and I'm positive I got a letter confirming the change of name. But the life certificate letter came in the old name....

Re: UK State Pension - delayed payments ?

I don't come on here much anymore but I did on the weekend and came across this post. I thought I won't get a letter because someone above said this request is every two years and I only turned 66...

Re: Applying for British State Pension Questions

Sent my application registered mail yesterday. I had it ready 2 weeks ago. I triple-checked it yesterday morning before going to the post office to make sure I hadn't missed anything. But today I...

Re: Applying for British State Pension Questions

Hmmm, now that I never knew. However, I've been in Canada for just over 16 years now and was a computer contractor for 15 years prior to that. Actually I kept a lot but finally got rid of...

Re: Applying for British State Pension Questions

Other than finding out my SIN had been deactivated I didn't have any issues on the Canadian side. I had been warned though to start as soon as possible since I'd been out of the country so long, so...

Applying for British State Pension Questions

OK, as from the beginning of March I can begin my application for the British State Pension. Unlike the Canadian Pension which lets you start the process a year in advance, the British one only...

Re: Contracted-Out & State Pension

Well here it is July 9th and I never did get my pensions forecast. I give up. I'm moving this week and brought over the little funds I had left in the UK (which I was going to use to on the...

Re: Contracted-Out & State Pension

Bats,
where is the link to opted-out pensions? Is that only if you can see your forecast online? I did a search on gov.uk but it didn't come up with anything that I hadn't already read.

This...

Re: Contracted-Out & State Pension

Thanks for that feedback Bats. Yes, I've fallen into the age for women changes, as well, although I do kind of agree there shouldn't be a difference in the ages. But, every time you think you...

Re: Contracted-Out & State Pension

Yes, I've always found that too or even worse, but I just noticed the request for voluntary contributions letter was dated April 9 and I got it April 20 so maybe they finally got the message about...

Re: Contracted-Out & State Pension

It seems the online pension forecast only works for those of you still using a UK address or have a UK passport. My passport is Canadian. Now have to wait for snail mail to get an updated forecast.

Re: Contracted-Out & State Pension

You mean it was reduced by 89 pounds a week? Yikes!

I did eventually manage to log in but it still asks for a UK address. I don't know why they can't say that before you go through the hassle of...

Re: Contracted-Out & State Pension

OK, I'll try to sign up again but it didn't work last year. So when I did phone up early in 2017 they told me my pension would be coming to me under the old rules, hence why I only had to pay up to...

I guess I omitted to say I did what they advised me last year, 2017, after the 2016 new rules came in.

Contracted-Out & State Pension

Does anyone have any experience yet of how being contracted-out has affected their State Pension? I can't seem to figure out how much this will affect my pension.

I have 3 years to go before I...

Re: Contributing to the UK state Pension whilst living over seas? time limit?

I've just tried again but it still wants a UK address from me. Maybe because I don't have a UK passport. Guess I will have to call them again tomorrow to re-figure out what I have to pay and more...

Actually, it does look like it took about 8-10 weeks. The date on the letter is May 9.

Re: Contributing to the UK state Pension whilst living over seas? time limit?

If I recall that was the site that asked for my address a couple of months ago and wouldn't let me enter a Canadian address.

Re: No options for Canadian Ex. Pats on latest UK QROP's listing

From what is being said above, that although I transferred after April 5, 2015 (tried to do it before but it was so slow), I can transfer to a regular RSP because I'm over 60 and been back in Canada...
