Student moving to Copenhagen
Hi All,
I'm due to move to Denmark in around a months time to begin a 2 year Masters course at the University of Copenhagen and was wondering if I could get some advice from anyone here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. Accommodation
Currently I still have nowhere to live for when I arrive in Denmark and I'm resigned to having to use a hostel or airbnb for the beginning of my time in Copenhagen. The university can't help me due to the course I chose and I seem to be a bit late for most private student dormitories (I only found out I was accepted in June). I have been using the sites findroommate.dk and housinganywhere.com but have had little success so far. There are some other housing sites but these seem unusable as they're all in Danish. I understand the difficulty of finding housing in Copenhagen but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions? Otherwise is it a case of hanging on til something arises?
2. Bank account
Can anyone recommend a good bank to use? Ideally I'd like one that'd be quick to set up (I believe I'd need a CPR number first) and provide good service. Furthermore, I'd be transferring money over from my UK account so one that is easy to accommodate this would help.
3. SIM card
I already own a phone so would just need a SIM only deal. Can anyone recommend one that'd be relatively cheap and have good coverage? If international calls/contact was included that'd be a bonus but probably not a necessity as I can use Whatsapp and Skype.
Thanks again,
Regards,
PN
