Now that summer's over and winter's just around the corner in Sweden, I'm reminded of the times I've stared stonily through the window at the incessant drizzle falling through the perpetual twilight, and I wonder now that I live in the sunlit uplands of the balmy South, whether the climate really does have an impact on people and their pastimes.

He lives (most of the time) in a forest cabin (hytte) that he and some friends built up from a run-down wreck. Very comfortable, except it doesn't have a septic. A huge improvement on his last DIY home-building project, which was a treehouse in Guatemala, in his hippy days. |
