One thing I am trying to find out is how easy it will be for my wife to find work in Stockholm. We are both British and have no Swedish currently. My company will provide language lessons but I am wondering how easy it is to find work with only English as your language. My wife works in retail as a shop assistant currently in the UK

Language lessons from the company is a good package, the same deal as we got.Swedish is hard to learn and after a year of lessons we are only just getting to grips with it.
Finding work in Stockholm will be possible although I'm not sure the retail market would be ideal as many shops or department stores would expect a certain level of fluency from a customer service point of view.
I don't work as we have a dog and I don't want to leave her alone all day.Maybe work in a hotel or something would be possible.
The Swedish job center can offer a work experience placement to help introduce you to the job market and also help with preparing CV's etc.Work experience offered by them pays about 70% of the full wage and can be a useful way of breaking into the job market.

When you arrive in Sweden you will have to register with the migration office: http://www.migrationsverket.se/info/start_en.html

After that you will need a person number from the tax office :
http://www.skatteverket.se/internati...c80006827.html you need this number for working and gaining access to doctors etc.

Social security office:http://www.forsakringskassan.se/nav/...b2db56919f9d52

I've tried to give you the links in english,I'm sure your company will guide you through much of it but this information will help answer lots of questions for you, hope it's helpful.

I am considering moving to Sweden (currently in London).
Any tips, experiences of life in Sweden that you can share would be much appreciated.

I am looking at living in one of these cities: Stockholm, Gothenberg or Uppsala
Have done a bit of research thru the internet, but first-hand experiences would be quite valuable.

Many thanks.

I work in the IT field, and have a good job currently. I plan to work in Sweden when I move there, and work in a similar job. So shouldn't have any issues with funds etc.
My question is more around life in general in Sweden.

Hi,finding work here without speaking the language can take a few months.
Life is very structured, but the standard of living and quality of life is much higher I think. The social life revolves around the home ie going to friends for dinner, drinks at home etc. Although there are pubs and night clubs people tend to use them less frequently then in the UK as drinking out is expensive here. Some people find Sweden a very hard place to settle in. I like it, try searching Sweden on the forum, although we don't have a specific forum for Scandinavia there are a few of us, Celtic Princess has a more negative view.
