Default Where is Scamp

Why no commentary on what is a pretty good performance so far by Saints.

Heartbreaking for them........... it would be a cliche to say 'if they keep playing like that, they'll survive comfortably' but it doesn't always work out that way. Disappointment can be dangerous, and it is all too easy to let a couple of unlucky defeats drift into a long-drawn-out slump........ hope not, because I liked what I saw today (Andy Townsend raving about Schneiderlin - quite rightly - he looks a very good player indeed).

I also thought that Lallana, Lambert and Puncheon played above themselves. Still not entirely sure why he substituted them.

Faint hope for Saints if they continue like that.

I got to see the first half, then had to go to something with the Mrs.

I hated refreshing bbc sport. I've got the second half recorded to watch tonight. Gutted we can't turn two leading positions against the two best teams into wins. Or even a point.

Ah well. Long season, hopefully Adkins, Cortese and the board will see the need for a strong, Premier League quality Centre Half in January and I just pray it's not too late. Fonte is fine, I rate him. Hooiveld however seems way out of his depth. Fingers crossed that we just score more than we concede. 4-3 Saints every week would be fine by my.

Noting your points so far:

Schneiderlin got little credit last season, people raved about Lambert etc (which is fair) but he pulled all the strings and can pass extremely well.

Little Adam Lallana will continue to grow. Great shout making him captain. He's an English David Silva. Maybe...one day.

Lambert. I hope he scores lots of goals. I like him because he reminds me of Shearer.

Puncheon is what Puncheon is. Decent little winger.

Yet to see our new club record signing, Gas-man Ramirez

Little Asian lad seemed alright

Ward-Prowse could be good.

Fox had an alright first half.

I just like the way we put pressure on non stop. Always chasing, always tackling. Carrick / Cleverly definitely didn't like it. But such is.

Van Persie's a rapist so we have the moral victory.

Yeah, good performance by Southampton last night. They were up against the best, though...

VP's penalty was ridiculous: if one goes in like that the scorer can look smug, but if, like last night, it doesn't, its difficult to measure just how stupid it looks. He was lucky(?) he redeemed himself. Mind you, he looked incredibly incisive most of the time.

When Scholes came on I pictured the headlines if we hadn't won, but its a mark of his greatness how he changed things.

Hard luck on the Saints, though.

From what I've read Scholes just came on and ran the show. Doing exactly what Carrick can't do and Cleverly hasn't perhaps learnt to do yet.

I don't mind losing when it's down to someone like Scholes. He's incredible.

Manchester United need another Paul Scholes but that in itself will be very hard to find , they've tried a lot of players and everyone has come up short as Scholes is one of a generation footballer .

When Andreas Iniesta was an apprentice he wanted to be Paul Scholes . Scholes shirt from the Champions League final takes pride of place in Iniesta's house ....Not a bad shout from the worlds greatest midfielder !

Thats why they went for Schneider. Strange that he wasn't mentioned at all this year.

Scholes is an amazing player for sure, but how on earth can Fergie continue to rely on him to rescue them from embarrassing themselves. How old is he now? Surely he cannot play every game anymore...

RVP is a top class player and nothing pleases me more than when someone makes Shrek look like an average player...Is it time to leave Wayne??

Don't worry about replacing Scholes - Cleverley is the ready-made clone. I'm serious - just watch him (I mean, really watch him). He even has the same ambling stride as Scholes, and a devastating ability to hit passes where none seems feasible. Perhaps he should dye his hair...............

It might be pushing things too far to suggest that SAF called him up and asked him to come back and play 'until Cleverley is ready' but who knows?

I'm definitely not worried. As a Chelsea fan nothing would please me more than a bit of failure from the reds..
