Ok so in the direction of Hatta there is a road that has a long tunnel that goes under the mountains, kind of like in Austria.
Just wondered if anyone knew the name of the road i.e. 'E44' ?

If you like adventurous highways, try the 10km hairpin going up Jebel Hafeet Mountain outside Al Ain. Great scenic views too.

Al Ain Zoo is worth a visit and a couple of nice forts in town. There is an excellent hotel at the top where they do a tasty buffet lunch with swimming pool access for Dhs90 or thereabouts.

There are two tunnels, and they are on the S116 (also has an 'E' number, which I cannot recall) Sharjah to Kalba road which passes through Wadi Al Hilo just before the tunnels. Also known as Mileiha Road. You can turn off the S116 to get to Hatta, and this is the route that stays entirely within the UAE, as opposed to the E44 which passes through Oman en-route to Hatta, with possible insurance implications.
If you turn off the tarmac at Wadi Al Hilo, there is a track heading north through a valley which leads to a switchback track up a mountain side to a telecoms tower with great views of Fujairah and the Indian Ocean, if a little hazy most of the time.
