So I guess the geographically logical options are:
AA via DFW (I guess they don't fly from here to MIA which would give you the most connection options);
UA via IAH (I forgot that since the Continental merger IAH is a hub for them and will be better than ORD, DUL or EWR);
DL via ATL.

I would still look into:
EY via IAH - not sure who they will connect with but may give a better option if SJO is offered as a through destination;
QR via IAH - as they are part of OneWorld alliance they may have an associate carrier though it would be a 3-stop flight.

Then I'd consider a charter! Just not an easy or fast part of the world to access from here....

funny story : I once saw this Miss World or Miss Universe Pageant and there was this dame from Venezuela. I KNEW she would be in the final 3, she was a thing of beauty!! and lo and behold she made it to the top 3.
