Sorry its rather late but its the first time a "Brit" has won this event since Tony Jacklin back in 1970. Mind you, Great Britain is technically only England, Scotland and Wales. Its the United Kingdom which also includes Northern Ireland, so actually he is the first UK golfer rather than the first Brit to win the US Open in the last 40 years. Anyway, its nice to put one over on the USA just now.

Easy. Greg's an honary Scot. To quote him after winning his first of two Scottish titles:-

That's a difficult one...Unionists tend to say British and Nationalists tend to say "Irish", though it's not hard and fast. However, in their UKGB&NI passports (including Graeme McDowell's) it says "British Citizen" - the same as for people from any other part of the UK. So, I suppose "Brit" is OK

Mind you, last night I had a peep over the fence into the Trailer Park, and there's a thread there about What Food We Brits Miss, or some such; the ad at the foot of that page was for Immodium. Mmmm....
