Nice touch at the end - the UAE Help Japan project were raising funds for the tsunami victims, and all the Japan players went into the crowd to sign autographs, have pictures taken with all the children, etc. Spent about half an hour out there and created a very good impression.

Blimey...show no mercy then
Good going...though how did the former all black play for Japan? Thought they couldn't change nations once they picked a side? Also can't be dual Japanese citizen, got to give one of them up at 23.

It's African athletes who 'qualify' as Qataris etc who should be giving the most cause for concern...... and a search for "Aspire" (the Qatar-based academy of sporting excellence) will reveal some alarming stuff ("You're African? You're 11 years old? You're a good footballer? OK then....... prepare to be trafficked.")

He didn't play for them, he's the coach. They do have a number of 'imported' players but they have all qualified by residence which, in rugby union, is actually quite strictly observed (three years of continuous residence, plus some other conditions about who they have played for before, etc).

There's only around 240,000 Qatari's in the country , 1 out of 3 is married into their intermediate family .
Doesn't seem like the right blend to create the next Lionel Messi , well , maybe a one with 15 fingers and 17 toes.

Very alarming , considering there's only 96 professional Qatari footballers registered to play in the League here . Naturalization is there only option , they have one of the biggest scouting networks in Africa . There's 12 European full time scouts who work full time for the Q.F.A .

Huge embarrassment to the UAE.
I'm all for a Uday Hussein-esque debriefing. Take the ex-pat rugger chumps down a peg or two. Can't be a bad thing.
Maybe a first job for this crack squad of ex Blackwater Christian nut-jobs.
