Two male prostitutes in the UAE
Two men jailed for working as prostitutes at men-only parties in UAE
Two men have been jailed for working as male prostitutes and encouraging a policeman to have sexual intercourse with them for Dh2,000 each, a court ruled on Thursday.
The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the two accused, a 22-year-old student and a 26-year-old employee, who are from a Gulf country, to one year in jail.
The defendants denied acting as prostitutes at men-only parties and also refuted the charge of encouraging an Emirati policeman to have sex with them for money.
Records state the policeman contacted the accused and agreed to have sex with them for money before detaining them in a sting operation.
When Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad confronted the detained defendants with their charges, they both pleaded not guilty.
The suspects were on bail earlier before the court sentenced them in absentia to one year in jail each. The defendants contested the verdict in absentia, and stood a retrial during which they were incriminated on Thursday.
An Emirati second lieutenant testified that an anonymous source reported that the accused acted as male prostitutes at the parties.
"We assigned a policeman who contacted the defendants and agreed to have sex with each of them for Dh2,000 as part of a sting operation and they showed up at 1am. The policeman paid the money and they all headed to the hotel room which had been booked for the purpose of the sting operation. A police team raided the room and seized ... [the payment] ... which had been photographed to be used as evidence against them in court," stated the second lieutenant.
The anonymous source who tipped off the police was a suspect who had been arrested in a similar case, said the second lieutenant.
Initial interrogations revealed that the defendants wore make-up and women's outfits at the parties. The accused admitted their charges during the Public Prosecution questioning.
