Turner Prize 2007
So this year's Turner Prize goes to Mark Wallinger, who has re-created the banners & posters of Martin Haw's Peace Camp, that existed from 2001 to 2006 in Parliament Square before new laws were drafted & it was demolished by police....
As a political statement it deserves merit, as he has created a new medium to continue a protest that was silenced by an act of parliament - but does it deserve the Turner Prize as a work of art? All he has done is re-create something that was created by others?

Re: Turner Prize 2007
It isn't that weird....
Is it a significant statement?
Yes, because the "real" artifact was silenced by T.B's government, probably illegitamately (which in itself qualifies it as a work of Art insofar as it can be argued that one of the functions of art is to make the viewer question his/her own value system).
Is it a work of any technical merit?
This is debatable - is the technical merit contained within the skill to create the piece, or the skill to concieve of it?
