Re: Things you do HERE, that you would never do THERE.
To call out one person on a forum as a 'faggot' isn't cool or funny.
We all disagree over things, we all get frustrated with each other, we all bang heads but we also all help each other, we offer advice, we have a laugh, we have digs and we appear (on the whole) to be fairly decent people on this forum.
Doesn't matter who it is, whether you historically get on with them or not and whether it's thinly veiled or not....being that deliberately nasty is ****ing pathetic.

Thank you all for your support.
Frankly, I'm not personally offended but as Scamp said (a bit better), I don't think it's ok to think that that is ok.
My guess is that IKN thinks he's being funny and there's always a first time for everything. But this isn't it.

To be fair I think that's an immense over-reaction (yet again) as that is most certainly NOT what it means. According to all my Emirati friends it literally means "Gay boy" but in a humorous way - and if you seriously think I would say that someone was a faggot on a forum is also bang out of order.
In context when we're all sitting having shisha the word comes up again and again directed to the other guys, no offense is taken at all.
However, as usual an "offence" is taken when actually it was meant in the same way you call your best mate a (insert "bad" word here) all the time.
Ah well, believe what you want.

I might be miles wrong in it's context and interpretation and whatnot...but you and Miss Anne are hardly buddies and whilst I don't think you're actually a nasty person, surely you can see why that is not going to go down well?

None of the Khaleejis I know (not just the gay ones) would ever accept being called by that name. It's a derogatory term intended to be an insult, much closer to "f@ggot" or "queer" than "gay boy" or "sissy" (for which there is another word entirely).. Maybe if you knew me well and we were hanging out and talking light-heartedly it might be ok as part of repartee but not in this context.
And once again you try to make yourself the victim. I specifically said that I was not offended, just that it was not ok to use that word on a public forum.
Be a man and acknowledge you crossed the line here, even if you didn't intend it.

Miss Anne, I certainly didn't mean to offend you or anyone, if I did (and it would appear I did) then I apologise unreservedly to any/everyone.
It was meant in a humorous way (as that is the way it's always been "given" to me - as a form of banter), however as Scamp says, interpretation and context is never the same with the written word as it is when sat around a group in person.
Can we move on?
