I'm not sure on the authenticity of this as it's not reported on in mainstream news, at least not yet.

'Obama's order, approved earlier this year and known as an intelligence "finding," broadly permits the CIA and other U.S. agencies to provide support that could help the rebels oust Assad.'
Discuss.

Re: Syria
Support: training, telecommunications, medical supplies, money. But no nations troops boots on the ground, or weapons/ammunition. PMC's operating on the ground risk being designated as terrorist organisations (unless sanctioned like this) Meanwhile jihadists have been arrested in UK airports attempting to go join the fight and charged with terrorist offences. It all really depends on who you are working for.
Half a dozen MANPADS get incountry? Most of the video footage I've seen shows Soviet weapons, captured at Assad's bases. But Assad is targeting his own bases and equipment now in the event of takeover, so initial material gains are getting less and less.
Someone brought in a decent anti-tank HEAT missile system recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0HuGxYkRVQ You can see the missile just before it impacts the rear of the tank if you pause it. Overkill, since that's an old Soviet tank with little rear end protection. The missile would probably have worked from the front at the base of the turret. No reactive armour. We'll have to see how many missiles they brought in for the system. But it has to be noted that the donation of numerous MILAN posts during the Afghan war with the Soviets led to the downfall of Soviet tanks and apc's (and probably a few helicopters too) When you're equipped with a system that can penetrate "any known armour to man" then anyone sitting in a tin can is going to get very worried.
