Re: Skype blocked again
Perhaps the wrong emoticon. Maybe this one: ?
Either way, why is everything on this forum such hard ****ing work nowadays?

Re: Skype blocked again
I'm pretty sure I got it, unless it's a seriously thickly layered in-joke for gay men that goes far deeper than just the highlighted change to my post.

Re: Skype blocked again
So back on topic, the blithering idiots at Du and Etisalat have managed to knock out all other live video feed technology emanating from the UAE. My security webcam and remote control doorbell no longer work
I cant keep an eye on the dog when I'm at work and can no longer interrogate or record visitors that come sniffing around my door during the day

explains why my dog-cam wasn't working yesterday and how he manged to piss behind the curtains without me knowing.
(just checked and it's online now - he's not in his bed though)

Re: Skype blocked again
Fortunately the door lock also has bluetooth (and a manual key back up) so I don't think they can knock that out, but I'm sure they'll try.

Dubai just isn't ready for the futuristic style of living. The ideas are there, the desire, the funds, the willing customers, but somewhere along the line an idiot is involved and buggers everything up.

Re: Skype blocked again
We have Skype for business on all machines in all our offices worldwide so we can chat, share screens, present etc.
When in the office it works fine. Connection isn't great on site when on wifi.

Re: Skype blocked again
Most definitely. 'Skype Out', ie direct dialling to a landline, is way cheaper than other options and very useful when talking to aged parents who simply 'don't get' computers. Also good when talking to UK bank or HMRC or whatever where you spend more time waiting to be connected ('thank you for holding, your call is important to us') than sorting out the problem.
