Yeah, paneer on its own is meh. But with a dopiaza or jalfrezi, mmmmm
To contradict my last post, I do like channa or rajma curries. Whenever we order from somewhere "authentic" we always go veggie. Can't stand digging into a lamb/mutton curry and finding it full of bones.
I just wish the Brindian takeaways were cheaper!

Didn't Ravi's go up in flames?
TBH it has to be the most over rated curry house in Dubai. There are plenty of better quality and value for money establishments in Bur Dubai. Could never understand the hype around Ravi's. Small average curries for more dibs than their competitors.

Much as I love authentic Pakistani and Indian food I am not a fan of Ravis. I have had far better, also for very little money.

Ravi's is best for bringing tourists/visitors but if I'm going myself, I prefer the food in Karachi Darbar.
I'm sure it won't be long before the whole of Satwa is torn down and replaced by food trucks and "fusion dining concepts" in shipping containers.

Butter chicken is rank.....i don't know how folks eat that....its up with korma chicken...another rank dish...these dishes are 'tweaked' (westernised) for the more 'fairer' palate.

If you guys want to taste real awesome Indian food then 'Indigo by Vineet' in the Grosvenor is off the charts (damn pricey though).

The states that we used to stagger in there meant it wasn't a problem at 2am.

But... Indian food does not lend itself to fine dining in my opinion. It's that simple.
A curry is a curry, and trying to pretend otherwise just doesn't cut it for me. It's a food best consumed with Cobra beer.
