Room 101

Right, just dawned on me that there are many, many things I would put into Room 101.

Please offer your suggestions (no, it can't be me) and we should collectively agree or disagree.

First:

Mushrooms.
They're rank. They're fungal, they're not even nice looking, they grown on the floor, they don't belong in any meal really, they offer very little in terms of pleasantry either as flavour or a 'thing'. They come in pies, which frankly should just be steak or chicken, not steak & (unless it's ale).

Mushrooms aren't even clean. For example, The FDA allows 19 maggots and 74mites in every 3.5 ounce can off mushrooms in the USA. Who the fudge wants that?

Hmm....

Guinness is rank and belongs to Room 101.

The entire State of Qatar.

Indian restaurants where there's 30 waiters running amok like a Charlie Chaplin film.

From George Orwell's novel 1984, it's the basement torture chamber in the Ministry of Love, in which the Party attempts to subject a prisoner to their own worst nightmare, fear or phobia, with the object of breaking down their resistance.

And also a light hearted show on UKTV starring (currently) Frank Skinner.

It's a show where celebrities come and put two or three things into room 101 (to never be seen again). I never found it funny.

Fun fact, basic 101 is a reference to the college course numbering system. Although there is some variation among the universities, generally speaking, the first number indicates the year level (1 meaning freshman, 2 meaning sophomore), the 0 indicates entry level (as in the lowest level course offered within the first grouping) and the second 1 indicates that it's a survey course (which is broad based, rather than specialised courses that one would take later on).

So basic 101 means the easiest and first course

No, Guinness is good. Qatar - meh. Indians - disagree.

OK. Guinness can't go in mate but Qatar can and shit Indian restaurants. You're probably right with the last, I'm just thinking rose-tinted about my last UK curry on Brick Lane with my Dad nearly a year ago. Sob sob.

In no particular order...

Reality TV 'stars'
Celery
Kardashians
Custard
Pampered celebs moaning about the Calais Jungle
Cider (used to like it, not any more)
Rainbow evaporated milk
Indian tea (see above)
Indian sweets (ditto)
Dubai drivers
Dubai lift occupants
Dubai shop customers
Dubai Metro passengers
Rice pudding

I like mushrooms.

Tiramisu

Mushrooms in a fry up? Hand in your passport you faux-continental treason monkey.

Bananas and Coffee are my favourite fruit and hot drinks. So unfortunately, you can have one - bananas. Banoffee is made by God between the thighs of virgins. It's sacred.

Tiramisu I like but you can have it.

Balance.

3 crackers there.

Although I went to Barasti at the weekend with a small group, got a table, got beers in, chilled and enjoyed it. Full of ***** but we didn't have to talk to them.

Can I get Trump into Room 101?

Barasti gets the clientele it deserves don't you think , great when you're 20 something , shite when you're older . Also

Dubai Gastro Pubs - If i want a burger i just want it on a plate , not a board or a piece of slate and a miniature pretentious metal basket of chips . I know there's plenty wankers in this town but it's like a disease !!!

Agree on the plates. Hateful trying to eat off what can only possibly be a germ ridden chopping board.

I rarely ever go to Barasti but with a few friends at the weekend getting there for sundown and chilling all night (read; getting leathered) it was great. Yes, the clientele lets it down but I'm not out on the pull and if a good crowd of you with a table and you can get over the awful service (cut some slack because it's busy, but it's still terrible) then it's a decent bar.
