Restaurants told to comply with alcohol law...

I am not sure how this would work. How will restaurants be able to serve drinks
quickly and efficiently if they cannot display or store drinks on view??
What about places like Jambase or the Agency at the Madinat how on earth are they going to comply with this??
Totally stupid!!! Whats the betting that this law gets reversed within the next day or too..bit like the "seperate kitchen for pork" thing a while back!!

... and the 'No alcohol allowed in food preparation' edict a wee while back as well..
Pretty soon someone from some Ministry or other will surface to explain how everybody misunderstood the edict....

And when is the edict coming for other things on display? Yep--you're not allowed to display alcohol, the consumption of which is legal, but you're still allowed to display "items" the procurement of which is illegal. Barmy.

Or that rule in Bahrain, where Male Gynaecologists can only view the 'Ladies Department' through a mirror! - That must make inserting an IUD 'Interesting!'

The same as getting a haircut! - Guys can be seen, Women have to be dealt with behind Closed Doors! - Having seen some them I can see why!

'It added that there was no objection "to the displaying of only waters, of any types, in these particular racks and showcases".'
So you could have a bottle of Arwa, a bottle of Masafi and if you're a really posh establishment you could pop a bottle of Perrier into the now vacated wine rack.
Perfect solution.

This is what happens when 90% of a population works in the civil service. There are only so many distractions you can engage in before you actually have to do something and this was somebodies something on a day when they couldnt think of anything useful to do. Not a million miles from the uk's beaurocraticn insanity either

Seems Dubai wants to be an international tourist hub but is also increasingly more and more Islamic. Those are not good combinations really...
