Interesting article in The Guardian today about the Toon and why they've not been sold, ends with the following:-

Newcastle United are a very big prize waiting to be claimed.

Couldn't agree more.

Completely disagree.

52,000 people each week to a city centre stadium isn't worth 240m.

It's so much money to invest to start with.

Louise Taylor is a good journo but doesn't seem to grasp the finances of football too well.......... (Blimey!! Seen the cricket?? I woke up on 82-2 - it's now 89-7)

Player 'amortisation'? That means falling in value - is that the problem? An investor looks for a return in the current economic climate of about 4 pct p.a. net........ that's about 10 mln at that price...... need to look at the numbers - more later (cricket too tense too).

Have Al Jazeera lost the rights already? Only showing one 3pm kick off and have a couple of games from the championship on the other channels!

It'll be a "Technical Problem" no doubt.

I'm watching Toon -v- Canaries here. We're 2:0 up so that makes Remy joint top scorer in the Premiership I believe.

Yeah - strange one......... they need the rights (I assume) even to show just one game so that cannot be it............ no doubt we will hear one version or another in time.......

Weird.

C'mon you Saints...must have rallied well in the second part of the first half, coz when I dipped into the Beeb's stats after about 25 mins it was all one-way traffic, with no shots at all, about 75% Arse possession, and nothing looking positive. At half-time the possession's at 50:50, and the Saints have had more shots on target and more corners than their hosts. Take it to 'em...

Oh.

My.

God.

The sending-off of Wes Brown is easily the worst refereeing decision I have ever - EVER - seen. Bizarre - he played the ball, the opponent (Charlie Adam?) didn't even fall down, nobody appealed, nothing............ awful.

There are too many reffing cock-ups happening - what's going on?

A change in rights perhaps? Sky have a limited number of games they can show.

Martin Jol to go this weekend and may be followed by Chris Hughton, even after their win last week?

I didn't see the incident but can only guess that it may have been a two footed tackle. Vincent Kompany did that last season, won the ball fairly but got sent off. Otherwise I'm clueless.

Good thinking - but, no, it was a one footed play-the-ball-and-not-the-man jobby.......... wait until you see it........ you won't even know it WAS a 'foul' at all until you hear the astonishment in the commentator's voice a couple of seconds later........
