Pastry question, Lard?

Pastry question, Lard?
Decent shortcrust pastry needs lard, accept no substitutes. Except that lard, being rendered pig fat, is somewhat hard to come by in this part of the world. What are the alternatives, brands, that I might find in Doha?
Thanks

Hop on a flight to Dubai and you will find Spinneys selling lard for Dhs 8.75 per half pound pack.

It's an expensive option but worth keeping in mind for the odd weekend jaunt. Thanks.

I get Irish lard in Muscat's Spinneys equivalent in the pork room.
Alternatives are: buy pre-made shortcrust, or use crisco
