Passport renewal
Hi,
Just a quick one - what documents do you need to renew a UK passport and do you need the photos / form signed by a professional / QC etc?
Thanks!

Re: Passport renewal
Yes, one of the photos needs to be countersigned.

Re: Passport renewal
Thanks for that - although after reading your helpful link - it appears to renew you don't need countersignature:-
"Countersignatures on the back of your photographs are not necessary and the countersignature box on the application form does not need to be completed if your appearance has not changed significantly since your previous passport was issued."

But your link was very helpful - so thanks!

Re: Passport renewal
oops...I missed the small print!
It's a pretty quick service, they quoted 6 weeks for my daughter's first UK passport and it was done and back in 4.

Re: Passport renewal
The countersignature for pic doesn't have to be a professional per se. I got a retired friend to sign. Only known him 1 year, explained to embassy that we've not been here long and they were satisfied

Re: Passport renewal
The counter sig doesn't need to be by a Brit either, just someone that either knows you, or a professional in good standing, such as a doctor/copper/teacher etc.

Re: Passport renewal
Just to note. My recent renewal went through Dusseldorf. They were very 'Picky' about the Photographs. They insisted on 'True Photographs' rather than 'Digital Prints.' Even with a further DHL Run with the new photographs, the whole process took only two weeks. Most Photoshops in Dubai will do this for you, but mention that it is for a British Passport! - Needless to say, that it costs more!
