Re: The 'Official' Dubai Takeaway Guide
It just annoys me when you hear people say they cant get a "proper" whatever here, especially when its Indian.
Of course you can get authentic Indian cuisine, we're just saying the don't make it like they do at home!
In fact the curry at JB club is not bad at all, but it's not takeaway.

Re: The 'Official' Dubai Takeaway Guide
what i fail to understand is why anyone would actively seek out Indian food that was about as far from Indian food as possible and Chinese food that was about as Chinese as haggis, why oh why oh why.
We get some excellent "Indian" food here that isnt full of MSG, colourants etc so why yearn for something that taste like shit?????
Cant say the same for Chinese in Dubai unfortunately but the same stands, why yearn for MSG filled gloopy crap when good chinese is light, tasty and healthy
Its like yearning for a fray bentos pie

Ok, where is Beirut (hold your wisecracks, please!) and where do I find the automatic nearest the Nuran Marina (which is in the Al Majarah vicinity, near the bridge to Marina Walk that takes you to yet another damned Starbuck's)

The main Beirut restaurant is on Al Diyafa Street near Al Wasl Road, a block up from Al Malla.
There are branches in the various mall foodcourts (Festival City and MoE, I believe, perhaps the others as well).
The Al Diyafa restaurant is better than the foodcourt branches.

Great news, that'll come in handy when I'm working at the dry dock! For now, I'm deskbound out in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, so I'm still on the prowl for dinner palces. In a pinch, that link for the takeaway directory was great too!

Everyone who tries the JBR chippy have haddock, it is so worth it, the chips vary, sometimes ok ,sometimes not, but everything is way overpriced. Got caught out with delivery once said he didn't have change so ended up with a big tip, didn't let that happen again!!!
British Tandoor - closest I have found to a British Indian, in the UK I eat vindaloo but have to go one hotter and get a phall to get close to it. Love the authentic but I do love spicy food and Ravi's is the only authentic that gets slightly close to my spicy taste buds!! Don't know if they deliver though.

Last week we had a traditional British chicken tikka masala...from a takeaway in Walkden, Manchester...truly scrumptuous. You know, the one with the thick red sauce with a nutty flavour. How come you only find it in the UK and nowhere else it seems?

Gazebo - Chicken Tikka Masala is exactly what you seek - thick rich sauce without just being spicy creamy coconut water. Gazebo really is the best Indian i have had here (outside of Bombay Chowpatty)

Out here quite often a butter chicken (also known as murgh mahkani) is quite similar to chicken tikka masala and more available.
9.15am and hungry already....
