I must say, I'm rather impressed by the online Next Directory. I ordered some stuff 6 days ago and it arrived today. That's not the good bit.

If you spend over 120 delivery is free. I bought some 30quid shorts (151 AED via the AED pricing on the website). The same shorts are in the Next store here for 380Dh.

Cheaper than the UK and with free delivery to the UAE. What got me was that it actually came from the UK.

There is more of a saving to had on the adult clothes - basically the website doesn't charge VAT and gives free delivery - making it cheaper than buying in store in the UK. Kids clothes are VAT free anyway so it's not quite such a good deal... but still better than buying here.

Couple of things to remember. The shop here will not take returns so you have to pay to send back to UK. Don't order over 200 pounds as customs put a hefty charge on it so split the orders into two.

You have to love this. God knows how much Alshaya pay to run the Next shops here as a franchisee and then the clever *****ers in Leicester HQ decide to undercut them by competing directly online.

Thanks for the info. Next is good for a few basics, but if you order from the UK website they will only deliver to your billing address in the UK or another residential address, not to a drop box such as Shop & Shop.

Whilst I accept that there are costs for setting up in the UAE and shipping in goods, that is partly offset by low staffing costs and I'm very happy to see Al Shaya being undercut.
