I am 24 year old English guy moving out to Dubai next week to start a job in Dubai Media City. I don't know many people out there so have joined to hopefully get a kick start on making friends. Hopefully I will also be able to learn about where to go and where not to go etc etc.

Allegedly, there is a quiz every Monday evening at Aussie Legends in the Rydges Plaza hotel. This would provide you instant immersion into the seedier side of Dubai and may serve as a lesson to be more choosy about the people you mix with.

The company are putting me up for a few weeks in a hotel whilst I get my accommodation sorted. They flew me out last month and I got to have a look around at what was available in my price range, so hopefully will get it sorted quickly when I arrive.

It's probably a question asked frequently but is there anything I should pack that you can't get in Dubai?
