Default National Sandwich Week 2011

Starts on 26th May according to The British Sandwich Association. They also have their annual awards this week, the Sammies, which include British Sandwich Designer of the Year

http://www.britishsandwichweek.com/go/

In the spirit of celebrating one of our greatest inventions (their words), what's your favourite sandwich?

(And I wonder if this thread can get to page two before people start fighting? )

Bacon Sandwich but I think they mean the type you buy in a cafe, then it would be prawn and avocado

I just made myself 2 toasted cheese and bacon sarnies, now being washed down with a cuppa.

I would have preferred Bahtatboy's though

Favourite sandwich fillings from my youth:-

Cheese and jam
Cold baked beans
Crisps

nowadays it'd be something like pulled pork and homemade chutney
proper salt beef from Brick Lane
New York Pastrami on Rye

I would vote for cheese, onion, cucumber and tomato... in a baguette

In sandwich form, it has to be roast chicken and stuffing with a pickled onion on the side.

I'm rather capricious so change my views all the time and can't choose just one.

Cheese & onion
Prawn & crispy bacon
Thin steak with stilton
Banh Mi (pork, salad, herbs version)

Whent comes to pre-packed sandwiches in the UK chicken is the most popular filling at 24%
