BEIRUT: There was a buzz of anticipation across the Middle East last night after a Lebanese internet enthusiast announced he was preparing to post his 10,000th poorly constructed, badly grammatised and wildly inaccurate angry kneejerk message in an online comments section.

Fadi Assids, a 26-year-old self-employed IT entrepreneur living in Beirut, is a highly regarded moronic commentator in the regional internet sphere, and his often nonsensical ramblings across the comments sections of online sites such as Al Jazeera and The Daily Star have become the stuff of legend.

At the launch of Assids Attacks, his first book of comment compilations last year, one literary critic praised his work for its “spellbindingly illogical originality”.

While Assids wouldn’t confirm which news site would be chosen to feature his 10,000th comment, he told journalists at a press conference that it would be his “absolutely most absurd” and would feature some of the “worst spelling and most erroneous facts” he had ever used.

“In fact, it’s going to have nothing to do with the original online story whatsoever,” he laughed.
