Default Is this legal?

It shouldn't be.

The comment "Our animal are TICA Registered and very friendly to kids and other pets" says a lot about their mentality.

That's disgraceful! Not sure about legality as I think it depends on whether they have a licence, but it is so wrong on so many levels.

I'm checking it out now.

No idea if this is related to NorthernLads link, but I looked into these guys a while back as they looked dodgy in the same way

http://twitter.com/petmateuae

If you go through their followers there are 2 very well known family names there... Abu Dhabi and Dubai....

Tread carefully !

Nothing like the odd reminder that, for all its wealth, the UAE can still act like a third world country at times.

the legality is irrelevant, the buyers are beyond the legality anyway.

was at the vets last week they had a gibbon in, vet was telling me last week it was cheetah cubs. His premise was he likes it here and not treating or causing a stink would be detrimental to his health and wellbeing. This way he gets to stay safe and he knows the animals get looked after properly

Well, for what it's worth it isn't legal to sell animals like this.

People/companies that do so should be reported to The Ministry of Environment & Water.

Correct Meow and Autonomy. Basically, Bas***ds. Nothing we can do about them 'cept spread the word. Quietly, mind! I visited one of their 'farms' not far from the the Municipality Vet in Mushrif, 4 species on the cities jobbie list...... less than one half kilometre from muni vet and cities office which also happens to be in Mushrif...... great, hey!

It's rather ironic the WWF ad popping up right next to their own ad

Some of these people have been in the sun too long.

"He might attack the kids, because anything smaller than him he might attack," said Mr Abdulrahman.

"But for something big, like us, no he won't attack. I would be more worried with a lion or a tiger, but not a cheetah."

Such beautiful animals it breaks my heart to think of the mistreatment they will ineviatbly go through.

Are there any animal welfare groups that can sieze them legally here or try to educate the owners?

I have contacted the Ministry and the Municipality several times. Each time they say they will investigate and get back to me. Despite chasing them up - no response ever. And no action taken either.

Of far more importance to locals seems to be skirt lengths and Time Out publishing an article about bars during Ramadan...
