Default iPhone Apps - GPS Navigation for Middle East?

Anyone got any good recommendations?

Was using my Nokia E72 which had free GPS with voice navigation, and downloadable maps for most countries. Can't seem to find a reasonable equivalent for the ME for iPhone Apps. THe usual TomTom and CoPilot, but only aimed at UK and Europe, and also a bit pricey. (iPhone 4 iOS 4.3.2)

BTW - it's not a jail broken handset - yet.

Cheers

there is no free equivalent i don't think..but like you say maybe if you jailbreak..i would just pick up a cheap garmin and use that instead to be honest. i got a Garmin 255W for about SR900 i think and it has full european and full middle east north africa maps. also my iphone burns battery when using the gps so i can only imagine what turn-by-turn directions would be like..

Why did you stop using the E72? It's the best free solution you're going to get...

Still got the E72 with all KSA maps downloaded - D'oh. Didn't think of that really, could still use it, just pop the sim card in and its away.

You don't even need the SIM, though it makes getting a GPS lock rather slower if you don't have one.

Actually thought about that specific question as soon as I posted the previous reply, whether it could still work as a GPS device in 'Offline' mode / without a sim card in.

Might give it a try tomorrow on the way to work, in which case, can just leave it in the car, everything is set up - windscreen holder, in car charger.....
