As some of you know I am involved in a horse racing syndicate here in Dubai. Last night one of our horses won at Nad Al Sheba and the syndicate is now 66,000 USD better off I am chuffed to bits

yeah they did, pulled the syndicate to bits etc, but I am past caring, I won my initial investment back last night, so technically I have had an entire racing season for free

Horse racing bores the shit out of me thou, guess I was just born into it.

think the only point i ever remember anyone making was that it's not like you "own" a racehourse, it's a pretty minute investment in the grand scheme of horse racing, with a large number of people in the synicate, that doesn't even give you a leg of a horse (and yes, i did see and was offered the same package) so even if you got your investment back - which is great - it's not like you can retire now or anything...!

There is a good message though. Invest in things you can understand, if you can't understand how or why you are going to make money then it's usually better to walk away .
