Default How ridiculous can it get -Earth Hour

So I’m sat in a bar in Dubai enjoying a quiet pint and its earth hour so they turn the lights off, cool eh?

Nope; now the staff are running around putting high powered battery lights on every table which have been drawing from the grid all day. Here in a country with one of the highest per capita energy uses in the world. Oh, did I mention that the lights are made of plastic that’ll probably feed a whale or two for the next 100 years?

I’m not really a greenpeace bloke but this just smacks of the normal, let’s adopt a great cause and commercialize it as we normally get in this region.

Multiple face palms are starting to hurt my head these days. 541t bucket is filing up faster than ever.

Sometimes I can understand why the locals want to reject all this Western Liberal PC Nonsense as B S and go back to the One True Faith !

Ok now I’ve nearly p155ed myself. Manager came over for a chat about earth hour, bless him. Apparently Gov representatives turned up and FORCED anthem to turn off the lights, again cool. Another government Dept turned up and threatened to close them down if they didn’t light up the tables, stairs, and key exits. Have we suddenly become the most outlying street of Camden?

Hang on, be right back. Couple of old people just fell over the steps due to lack of emergency lighting!

I am sitting here and laughing! (hope no one was hurt). But this so screams Dubai. All show and no substance. Just like the Ministry of Happiness. If this was a fiction novel the reviewers would be panning it as unrealistic!

Earth Hour. Lights out in cities all over the world for one hour to highlight climate change tonight.

Or as it is known in Liverpool, Shopping Hour...

I remember when they were constructing Sustainable City.
There was a massive billboard advertising it lit up with spotlights you could see from miles around.

They haven’t quite got the hang of it, have they?

Agreed, but it makes the sad little snowflakes think they're doing something for the world.

If that's the case they should get proper jobs and work to do something about it.

Have you noticed btw, it's only minorities that protest?

Mark Hughes, manages to get two clubs relegated in the same season (If Palace go down too, Pardew can add that to his cv).
