How often do you use cash in UAE??
I was just reading this article and realized (apart from the money for our water bottle delivery) that I had not spent a single AED in cash for about 10 days. Every single thing I've spent has been card or Apple pay.

I use cash everyday and my biggest bug bear is getting stuck behind someone taking forever to pay for 1 item with a D/C or C/C for an item costing 10 dizzers. Joking aside i take a certain amount out each week and spend it. If i have my card with me too easy to spend more
Joking aside, I actually find budgetting with electronics easier than cash as everything you’ve spent is right there on the phone every day.
Each to their own I guess.

Apart from the cleaner, the shirt man and the prostitues, I 100pct use Apple Pay or the credit card.
I keep a small float at home but little in my wallet. I just don’t use it.
I found that Apple Pay is well developed in the UK this last trip. I only used cash there in 8 days once (and that was to lend to someone!).

Well I'm obviously the Luddite as I pay for everything cash (don't have a credit card either).

Although I am not a resident in Dubai, when visiting I always use cash for everything less than 2000 DHS. Simply down to poor exchange rates and cc fees for using a card abroad.

Cash mainly. Don't want a CC in Qatar. No point using UK CC in Qatar. Always pay cash for uber/taxi. I could use bank card for groceries and meals out but I find paying in cash gives me a better sense of how much I'm spending and stick to a budget.
Must say I've never heard of Apple Pay. I guess that's how far behind the times Doha is.

Why cash? No cash means no change which means no tips. Money saved. Thought that would be right up your street.

Apple Pay is sick. I use it for deliveries and all sorts. In the UK HQ the cafe doesn't take cash so just carrying your phone and paying contactless is amazing.
I take out cash and use it every week for spending. Easy enough to manage that way and when it's gone it's gone.

I've never used Apple Pay - is there something similar for Andriod ?
Do you have to type a pin in order to release the cash ?
Every 10 years or so there is always a report saying cash is dead - long live ATM/E-Pay or whatever. They said the same thing about the paperless office.
Not much call for it in Kuwait (K-Net or cash)

It's nothing super ht-tech really, your phone just takes a copy of your card and then uses the NFC to allow for payment at a contactless compatible terminal. No need to enter a pin - done by the fingerprint innit
Amazingly slow uptake given how good it is, but that is because Apple tried to muscle in on the interchange fee but usually get told to do one by visa.
